FAQ KOALA HUG Bed Linen

MATERIAL & PRODUCTION

What is KOALA HUG bed linen made of?

Our bed linen is crafted from 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell — a premium, plant-based eucalyptus fiber sourced from sustainably managed forests. Known for its silky softness, breathability, and low environmental impact, it’s a material designed for better, more comfortable sleep.

What is TENCEL™ Lyocell and why is it better than cotton?

TENCEL™ Lyocell is an advanced natural fiber that absorbs up to 50% more moisture than cotton. It wicks away moisture quickly, dries faster, and helps regulate your body temperature throughout the night. Naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial, it offers a cleaner, more breathable alternative to traditional cotton bedding.

Is your bedding satin?

Yes — our fabric is finished with a TENCEL™ sateen weave. Sateen refers to the weaving technique, not the material itself. The result is a smooth, fluid drape with a soft sheen and an exceptionally gentle feel against the skin.

What is the thread count of your TENCEL™ bedding?

Our bedding features a 300 thread count (300 TC). For TENCEL™, this is the ideal balance — delivering a refined, smooth finish while maintaining optimal airflow. Higher numbers aren’t better here; this is where comfort and breathability meet.

What sizes and colors is KOALA HUG bedding available in?

We offer duvet cover sets in 140x220, 200x220, 240x220, and 260x220 cm. The color palette is inspired by nature, featuring tones like pearl beige, slate grey, snow white, ocean blue, forest green, pink blush, platinum grey, and taupe brown. Separate pillowcases are also available in mint blue and camel.

SLEEP COMFORT & HEALTH

How do TENCEL™ eucalyptus sheets feel on the skin?

Silky-soft, smooth, and cool to the touch. Comparable to silk, yet more durable and breathable. The naturally smooth fibers reduce friction on the skin, helping to minimize irritation. Over time, the fabric develops a soft, matte finish with an effortless, lived-in elegance.

Is your bedding suitable for people with sensitive skin or allergies?

Absolutely. TENCEL™ is naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial. Its smooth fiber structure and moisture control create an environment where dust mites and bacteria struggle to thrive — making it ideal for sensitive skin, eczema, asthma, and allergies.

Does TENCEL™ regulate temperature well during sleep?

Yes — it adapts to you. This cooling bedding keeps you comfortably warm in winter and cool in summer. It actively manages moisture, so your bed stays fresh and dry, even during warm nights or temperature fluctuations.

Is TENCEL™ bedding the solution for ‘hot sleepers’?

Without a doubt. TENCEL™ releases excess body heat instead of trapping it, helping maintain a consistently cool, breathable sleep environment — ideal if you tend to overheat at night.

How does this bedding prevent waking up from night sweats?

Unlike synthetic or heavy fabrics, TENCEL™ absorbs moisture instantly and releases it just as quickly. The result: a dry, breathable sleep surface that helps prevent that damp, uncomfortable feeling that can wake you up during the night.

What is the difference between ‘cooling’ bedding and regular sheets?

Regular sheets often trap heat and moisture. Our cooling TENCEL™ bedding works with your body — cool to the touch from the first moment and breathable all night long. It’s designed to keep your sleep uninterrupted, even on warmer nights.

SUSTAINABILITY & ENVIRONMENT

How sustainable is TENCEL™ compared to (organic) cotton?

TENCEL™ Lyocell is one of the most sustainable bedding materials available today. It uses 10 to 20 times less water than cotton and is produced in a closed-loop system that recycles 99.5% of water and solvents — better for you, and significantly better for the planet.

Is KOALA HUG bedding biodegradable?

Yes. Our eucalyptus bedding is made entirely from natural wood-based fibers, making it fully biodegradable and compostable. It also doesn’t release microplastics during washing — a cleaner choice for your home and the environment.
necessarily.

CARE & MAINTENANCE

How do I wash and care for TENCEL™ Lyocell sheets?

Wash inside out at 40°C using a mild liquid detergent, preferably in a laundry bag. Avoid bleach and fabric softener to preserve the fabric’s breathable, cooling properties. Air drying is recommended, or tumble dry on low. For a refined finish, iron on a medium setting if desired.

Do I need to iron Lyocell eucalyptus sheets?

Not necessarily. TENCEL™ wrinkles far less than cotton. Hang it straight after washing for a naturally relaxed look. Prefer a crisp, hotel-style finish? A quick iron on medium heat will do the trick.
