Looking for more sustainable bedding than cotton or bamboo?
Perhaps you are used to buying cotton or bamboo bedding. It is so convenient, right? You can practically buy it anywhere these days, even in the local discounter. Just grab and go. It will cost you maybe 30 or 40 dollar to decorate your entire bedroom. But then, did you buy really sustainable and durable bedding? Is it good for your health and your family’s? Animal-friendly? Environmentally friendly? There certainly is a much better alternative to cotton or bamboo. TENCEL™ Lyocell duvets and sheets. But what makes TENCEL™ Lyocell bedding superior to a cotton duvet cover or a bamboo pillowcase?
Sustainably made vegan duvets
* TENCEL™ is made from wood chips from eucalyptus trees. The eucalyptus trees used are carefully selected and remain traceable. This is much more sustainable than growing cotton plants. For example, much more pesticides are used on cotton. Organic cotton is a better alternative than the regular fabric. However, growing eucalyptus trees requires up to 85% less water than cotton plants. Whether it is organic or regular cotton makes no difference. Many people do not realize the enormous amount of water that is necessary to produce (organic) cotton.* While both bamboo and TENCEL™ fabric are OEKO-TEX certified, only the latter uses a closed loop process, significantly minimizing its environmental impact. This means that at least 99% of the chemicals are reused. Unlike the production of cotton or bamboo bedding, the ‘closed system’ ensures that no chemicals are released into nature.
* TENCEL™ fibers are made of cellulose, the core component of all plants on earth. The source material wood is perfectly renewable: trees regrow. More than 99 percent of the wood comes from sustainably forestry. It is certified or controlled according to FSC (Forest Stewardship Council, the international quality mark for sustainable wood)
* TENCEL™ bed linen is one of the most sustainable fabrics in the world. Our vegan duvets are animal-friendly and 100% biodegradable.
Heavenluxe softness of TENCEL™ sateen duvet covers
Contrary to what most people think sateen is not a fibre or fabric. Sateen has to do with the weaving technique of the fabic. Threads are woven closely together in sateen. This way of weaving makes the fabric softer than regular woven crispy cotton. But even softer than cotton sateen are TENCEL™ sateen duvet covers.Bedding that feels buttery soft and provides ultimate sleeping comfort? Sustainable sleeping has never been as comfortable and environmentally friendly as with the TENCEL™ Lyocell pillowcases. This material is known for its lush softness, giving you a feeling of pure indulgence every time you lay your head on the pillow. It also makes the fabric ideal for people with sensitive skin or eczema. No other vegan material can match the sensation you feel. Once you have experienced sleeping under a TENCEL™ sateen duvet cover, you’ll never want to sleep on anything else. It’s simply the best of the best.
