A TENCEL™ flat sheet is a lightweight, silky-soft and breathable flat sheet made from 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell. It is moisture-regulating, naturally hypoallergenic and therefore also a lovely choice if you are sensitive to dust mites. Ideal for hot sleepers, warm nights and as a practical extra layer in bed or while travelling.

A top sheet is a lightweight layer that sits between you and your duvet. It feels light and comfortable, protects your duvet and is ideal for warmer nights. And because a flat sheet is so lightweight and versatile, it’s just as easy to take with you when you travel.
Our new flat sheets are made from 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell and woven in a refined 300TC sateen weave. The result feels silky-soft, breathable and moisture-regulating. Exactly what you want from beautiful, comfortable bedding.
What is a Flat sheet or Top sheet?
A flat sheet, also known as a top sheet, is a thin, rectangular piece of fabric that sits between your body and your duvet. In English, this is commonly referred to as a “flat sheet” or “top sheet” — and honestly, we think those names make perfect sense. The difference between a fitted sheet and a top sheet is simple: a fitted sheet, with elasticated edges, fits around your mattress, while a top sheet lies loose on the bed. A small addition to your bed, then. But one that is versatile and can do surprisingly much.
Why sleep with a TENCEL™ flat sheet?

When you sleep, you want your bedding to breathe with you. TENCEL™ Lyocell is known for its soft, breathable and moisture-regulating properties. The fibre absorbs moisture well and helps keep your sleeping environment comfortable throughout the night. A top sheet creates a comfortable layer between you and your duvet and helps keep your duvet cover feeling fresh for longer. And it’s practical, too. A flat sheet is easy to wash in between, without having to wash your entire duvet cover.

A TENCEL™ flat sheet is much more than just a top sheet. You can use it as:
- a lightweight layer on warm nights;
- an extra layer between you and your duvet;
- a bottom sheet, as an alternative to a fitted sheet;
- a practical travel companion for holidays, hotels and B&Bs: as a bottom sheet when you don’t know the exact mattress size yet, or as an extra layer between you and the duvet or blanket.
Especially when travelling, a flat sheet can be incredibly useful when you don’t know exactly what size the bed or mattress will be. Simply unpack it, place it on the bed and you instantly have a familiar, comfortable and hygienic layer with you.
TENCEL™ Lyocell: soft, breathable and plant-based
Our flat sheets are made from 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell, a fibre made from eucalyptus wood pulp. TENCEL™ combines a silky-soft feel with breathable and moisture-regulating comfort. Its smooth structure feels lovely against the skin, while its moisture-regulating properties make the fabric particularly well suited to creating a comfortable sleeping environment.

Why our TENCEL™ flat sheets have a 300TC thread count
Our TENCEL™ flat sheets have a thread count of 300TC. But what does that actually mean?
TC stands for thread count and refers to the number of threads woven into a certain area of fabric. A higher number doesn’t automatically mean better quality. The fibre, yarn thickness and weaving technique all influence how a flat sheet feels.
At KOALA HUG, we’ve made quite the study of it. For TENCEL™, we consciously chose 300TC. This thread count offers a beautiful balance between a silky-soft, supple feel and enough openness to allow TENCEL™’s breathable and moisture-regulating properties to perform at their best. The refined sateen weave also gives the flat sheet a subtle sheen and a smooth, luxurious feel.
Our choice of 300TC isn’t about choosing the highest number, but about finding the right balance between softness, luxury and breathable comfort.
Which size TENCEL™ flat sheet do you need?
A top sheet works best when it is large enough to tuck in at the sides and at the foot of the bed.

Not sure which of two sizes to choose? We recommend going one size up. The extra overhang makes the flat sheet easier to tuck in and gives you more room to move.
How to care for your TENCEL™ Lyocell sheets
With the right care, your TENCEL™ flat sheet will stay soft and beautiful for a long time.
- Washing: wash at 30–40°C and preferably use a mild detergent.
- Fabric softener: best avoided; it can leave a layer on the fibres.
- Drying: air drying is preferred. If you use a tumble dryer, choose a low temperature.
- Ironing: not necessary if you prefer a natural look, but you can iron it on a low temperature if desired.
- Storage: store the flat sheet completely dry in a cool, breathable place.

A beautiful bed is about more than just your duvet cover. It’s the different layers that create that inviting, layered feeling. A top sheet is therefore not only practical, but also adds depth and a beautiful layered look to your bed.
Combine your TENCEL™ flat sheet with a duvet cover in a different shade and add pillowcases in yet another colour. Prefer a calm, understated look? Choose neutral, tonal colours. Want something a little more expressive? Play with contrast instead. This way, your bed becomes a place not only to sleep, but somewhere you’ll happily linger a little longer.
