Why washing your Tencel bedding in a laundry bag is an excellent idea

Waarom het wassen in een waszak een goed idee is

Do you already sleep on TENCEL™ Lyocell bedding or are you planning to buy this luxury sustainable bedding soon (good idea, because it sleeps great!). As with any type of textile, specific washing instructions apply to TENCEL™ bedding. Because it would obviously be a terrible shame if your luxury sustainable duvet covers and pillowcases wear out faster than they should. With the tips below, you can easily extend the life of your bedding. One of our care tips: washing your TENCEL™ bedding in a laundry bag will extend the life of the bedding.

A laundry bag offers extra protection

Washing machines are, of course, extremely convenient. Nowadays, we wash almost all our textiles in washing machines and do very few hand-washings. Although you don’t necessarily have to wash delicate textiles by hand, it is useful to apply a few simple tricks. Because a wash inevitably creates more friction between textiles than a hand wash. The solution is simple and effective: a laundry bag. A laundry bag offers extra protection to your silky-soft TENCEL™ Lyocell bedding. It minimises the risk of unsightly pulls or loops. It offers extra protection to your bedding. Don’t worry that your laundry won’t get clean properly because it will come out of the washing machine good and fresh. However, do not stuff the washing machine and laundry bag too full so that it has some room to move.

Even more tips for your TENCEL™ bedding

Your delicate bedding and towels deserve special care. We have a few more useful tips to extend the life of your favourite TENCEL™ Lyocell duvet covers and towels.

1. Preferably use a natural, chlorine-free detergent to keep your lyocell bedding looking great for an extra long time. If available, choose a detergent that matches the colour of the wash, i.e. especially for white, black or coloured fabrics. This will keep the colours looking great for an extra long time.

2. Previously mentioned is our tip to turn duvet covers and pillowcases inside out before putting them in the laundry bag. This way, the pretty side of the bedding is additionally protected.

3. Besides detergent and turning your bedding inside out, reducing the number of times you wash your sheets is another easy way to extend the life of your bedding. You may still have to get used to the idea but TENCEL™ Lyocell is hypoallergenic and temperature regulating. It does not need to be washed as often as, say, cotton or bamboo bedding. Your bedding will stay fresh for at least twice as long.

A child can do the laundry!

Using a zipped laundry bag is child’s play. All you have to do is turn the TENCEL™ Lyocell bedding inside out where possible, put it in the laundry bag and zip it up tightly. Set the short wash programme to a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius. The lower the temperature and the shorter the programme, the better for your bedding. Moreover, this is more environmentally friendly as you use less energy and it also saves you money. A real win-win situation!
