At KOALA HUG comfort, convenience and sustainability are very important. That is why we have consciously chosen bedding with 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell. Contrary to what you might think, it’s super smooth. It brings many positive features and ensures an optimal night’s sleep. But what exactly is TENCEL™ Lyocell?
TENCEL™ Lyocell is a fiber
TENCEL™ branded Lyocell fibers are strong and wonderfully smooth to the touch. They are moisture absorbent and they naturally manage the transportation of moisture, enhancing fabrics by keeping your skin feeling pleasantly comfortable. Nice feature: it is temperature-regulating. This is ideal if you or your partner are a ‘cold’ or a ‘warm type’ (or vice versa). TENCEL™ Lyocell actually provide all the positive properties of other natural fibers and thus improves the fabric properties. In short, we love it!
The production of TENCEL™ Lyocell
TENCEL is a very special material: it is very light and soft, but at the same time strong and comfortable. Sometimes the words TENCEL and lyocell are used interchangeably. TENCEL is a sustainable variant of the fabric lyocell. It is a brand developed by the Austrian sustainable fibre company Lenzing AG. This fibre company produces its fibres very accurately and according to strict sustainability requirements.
For the production of TENCEL™ fibres, Lenzing uses wood pulp that comes from sustainably managed forests. All in all, a nice, sustainable alternative to, for example, regular cotton. TENCEL™ Lyocell production process is a ‘closed loop’: more than 99% of the water and solvents used during the process are collected and reused. For example, all production phases are designed as sustainably as possible. TENCEL™ is a trademark of Lenzing AG.
